Incorporation
San Elijo College, Incorporated is a registered non-profit corporation with the State
of California. San Elijo College, Incorporated is a Federally recognized 501c3 tax exempt corporation.
Approval to Operate
As the new California Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education begins regulatory duties in January 2010, the Bureau
for Private Postsecondary Education has not reviewed San Elijo College's application for approval to operate. San Elijo
College will submit an application for an approval to operate to the Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education within six
months of that application becoming available. Click here for the text of the new legislation. San Elijo College intends to follow
all State of California regulations regarding our formation and operation.
Accreditation
As a newly formed institution of higher education, San Elijo is pursuing accreditation with the Western Association
of Schools and Colleges (WASC), a United States Department of Education recognized accrediting body (www.wascsenior.org).
All new colleges and universities begin without accreditation from federally recognized
accrediting agencies.
The process for accreditation for San
Elijo College is anticipated to take 4-6 years. "Eligibility" with WASC is expected to be established in 2012. Once
fully operational, WASC estimates that it will take 2-3 years to reach "candidacy" then another 2-3 years for "accreditation."
